The month it was once again time for the new issue of one of the local South African magazines, namely Scrap Affairs. Every second month I cannot wait to get the new edition. Once again this edition is filled with tons of inspiration and some gorgeous layouts.
I am proud to say that not only did they publish one of my layouts, but they also published two of the articles that I wrote. What an awesome feeling!!!!!!!!!!!
The published one of my pet layouts, along with a little half-a-page article I wrote about the meaning of my pets. Here is the layout and what it looks like in the magazine!
The article reads as follows:
I am a HUGE pet lover and sometimes I think I love pets (especially my pets) more than humans.
Pets are a part of our everyday life. They are there when you wake up in the morning and they are there when you get home at night. They will come to you if you are sick, had a bad day or just need some love. They do not judge you when they look at you and they NEVER criticize. It is for these reasons that I think it is important that we honour our pets and show them that we love them by including them in our scrapbooking.
If I have to go through my scrapbooking albums, I have more albums on my pets than some of my human pictures.
When I scrap my pets I don't think of them as pets, I see them as something special. I put just as much effort and detail (sometimes even more) into my pet layouts. If I feel sad or down, the first thing I will scrap will be my pets. Or if I am uninspired and have "scrappers block", then I will also scrap my pets. It is as if they have a calming effect. I do not like to use "pet" paper, I will, however use some pet embellishments. I find that there is really a limited variety of pet paper on the market and really do not find them inspriring at all. I will use normal paper, e.g. a Kaisercraft or BoBunny range or even Simple Stories to showcase my pet photos. The reason for this is that those ranges can be used just as well with the pet pictures, than any other paper.
I also love taking pictures of my pets and capturing those special one of a kind moments on camera. It is not always easy, but sometimes I even scrap the "not so good" pictures, due to the fact that it still represents a special moment in time.
I love my pets to bits. They are like children to me and I treasure every day I have with them and I would not change that for anything in the world.
The second article that was published in this issue of Scrap Affairs, is an article that I wrote about Let's Scrap and the South African ladies that have been on the Design Teams over the last 10 years. Here is a picture of the article.
Hope you have an awesome day and scrapbook up a storm!!!!!!!!
Scrappin Regards
