TIMELESS MOMENTS WITH PINK PAISLEE'S SWITCHBOARD COLLECTION

Friday, July 11, 2014

Hi there ladies, today I want to share a layout with you using the Swithboard collection from Pink Paislee.

I had so much fun creating this layout!!!!!!!!!  And of all the layouts I made recently, this one is my favourite!  When I saw this paper range, I immediately fell in love with it, and I knew I wanted to create a fun layout!  So I printed some pictures with our little one playing with a phone.  But in the end, I decided against using those pictures and rather using some of my all time favourite pictures that were taken of my and Jonathan - the colours in the pictures were a perfect match for the collection.

My inspiration for the layout came from a class taught by a dear friend of my, Jowilna Nolte, where she used a lot of small blocks.  So opted for the bigger blocks, and a patchwork feel to the layout.

Products Used
Pink Paislee Switchboard Call Me patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Rotary Phone patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Dial Up patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Hey There patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Address Book patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Chipboard Sticker Set
White and black cardstock
Chipboard title
Tim Holtz distress paint
Thread and buttons

Here are some close-ups of the detail and embellishments.

I used a chipboard title which I painted using Tim Holtz' distress paint, and once I adhered all the blocks, I hand stitched each one individually (which took some time.....).

Not only were there paper in this collection stunning, but there was also gorgeous chipboard stickers.  I included these on the layout, along with some buttons I had in my stash.

So there you have it, my layout using the Pink Paislee Switchboard collection!  All of these products are available in the Frosted Designs store!  So head on over and fill up those baskets :-)

THE BEST OF ELLE'S CAMEROON COLLECTION

Friday, June 27, 2014

Hi there everyone, today I want to showcase a layout with you where I used the Cameroon collection from Elle's studios for this double layout, along with this sketch as inspiration.

<a href="//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fkentbrew%2F6851755809%2F&media=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm8.staticflickr.com%2F7027%2F6851755809_df5b2051c9_z.jpg&description=Next%20stop%3A%20Pinterest" data-pin-do="buttonPin" data-pin-config="above" data-pin-color="red"><img src="//assets.pinterest.com/images/pidgets/pinit_fg_en_rect_red_20.png" /></a>
Products Used
Elle's Studio Cameroon 12x12 Collection kit
Elle's Studio Cameroon large and medium journaling tags
Elle's Studio Cameroon tabbed tags
Kaisercraft rub-on
Chit chat word stickers from Tim Holtz
Simple Stories Snap Life typeset alphabet

A lot of Elle's Studio's products can be used for Project Life layouts.  But today I wanted to showcase their Project Life products on a double layout.  I loved the paper with the bricks on, so I used that as the main pattern paper on the layout and I cut a strip from the journal paper to include on the left hand side of the layout.  There were 3 journal blocks on this sheet of paper - on the first journal block I included the date of the photos; on the second journal block I used a Kaisercraft rub-on which reads "LIFE is not MEASURED by the number of breaths we take but by the number of MOMENTS that take our breath away."

On the third journal block I included another quote which I got from one of the tags in the Cameroon collection which reads "37% Awesome + 12% Smiles + 25% Imagination + 20% Adventure + 6% Dirt = 100% Boy".  The stars at the bottom of the layout I cut from one of the tabbed tags.

The flags and embellishments that I used on the bottom right hand corner of the layout I cut from off-cuts of paper; tabbed tags; frames; and strips from the bottom of the 12x12 papers.

For the saying next to the main photo on the layout I used Chitchat Word Stickers by Tim Holtz and Simple Stories Snap Life Typeset Alphabet.  The saying reads as follows:  "if there is a tomorrow when we are not together there is something you much always remember - even if we are apart I will always be with you."

I really enjoyed creating this layout and working with this paper range and all the elements included in the collection!

All of the products I used is available in the Frosted Designs store.  Don't forget to head on over to the store and fill those shopping carts!!!!

Carta Bella Beach Boardwalk - Surfs up 12x12 patterned paper
Carta Bella Beach Boardwalk element stickers
Carta Bella Beach Boardwalk alpha stickers
Brads from my stash

I had so much fun making this layout and using this sketch!  Half of the reason is this awesome picture that I just LOVE of our son taken at the beach during our December holiday!  This was our first day on the beach with him and he really had an awesome time!  I also just love the various combinations of blue in this picture - the sky, the tent behind him and of course his swimming costume!!!!

The order half of the reason I had so much fun making this layout is of course the paper!  I just loved using the Beach Boardwalk from Carta Bella!!!!!!!

Here are some close-ups of the detail.

I did not want to include a whole lot of embellishments as I wanted to keep the picture as the focal point of the layout!  I added some brads that I had in my stash, some hand stitching and some stickers from the Beach Boardwalk collection.

SCRAP AFRICA SCRAP YOUR STASH CHALLENGE

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Good morning everyone, there is a new challenge at Scrap Africa and the challenge is all about Scrapping Your Stash!  Dig deep and pull out those collections that are 3 years or older; if you're newer to scrapbooking and don't have paper older than 3 years just use your oldest paper.  We'd also love to see you use some of those older products that are possibly not so "in" at the moment e.g. rub ons, eyelets, staples, etc.  Get creative, have fun, and use up some of your stash!

I have a layout that I created using a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy designed by Laura Whitaker.

Here is my take on the sketch!  I LOVED this picture of our little one, that was taken at his cousin's first birthday party, earlier this year.

All of the paper in this layout are pieces of scrap paper that I had leftover from a Jenni Bowlin class I did.  The amazing thing is, that I did this class back in 2008............

Here are some close-up pictures.........

The circle in the top left hand corner of the layout, with the photo on, I decorated with a journal card from October Afternoon, a sticker from Teresa Collins with a quote that reads: "Today you are you, that's truer that true.  There is no one alive who is you-er than you - by Dr Seuss".  I also added a brad that I had in my stash and the black star is from my Tim Holtz plastic stickers.  I finished the circle off with some hand stitching around the edge.

The circle in the bottom right hand corner, I only decorated with paper and embellishments.  The journal block with the "G" on is from the Jenni Bowlin collection, along with the "GROW", which is the top portion of a bingo card.  I also added another word that started with a "G", i.e. good times, which is also a Tim Holtz plastic sticker.  I added another brad from my stash, hand stitching around the edge of the circle and the scallop sticker from Teresa Collins.

This was my very first time where I did a layout like this one, with detail in the two opposite corners, and I really enjoyed making it and LOVED the end product!

Thank you for the visit!

A HANDFUL OF FUN

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

I realised the other day that I have a lot of layouts, but have been lacking on the blog posts.  So I have decided to try and catch up and do some sharing.

Today I want to share with you layout I made with a Let's Scrap sketch from August 2013.

Products used
Various patterned papers from my stash
Washi tape
Chipboard cogs
Washi tape
Bling and buttons from my stash
Kaisercraft Boy rub on
Making memories letters
Chipboard alphabets
October Afternoon stickers

I loved these pictures of Jonathan, they were taken on a Saturday afternoon after we all went grocery shopping.  The special thing about these pictures is that was the day be bought him his first rugby ball!  A very proud moment in every dad's life if they have a son!  I captured these pictures in the kitchen while he was trying to play with the ball and at the same time crawl towards me.

I printed the pictures almost immediately after taking them, as I was extremely keen to make a fun layout.  But I battled for days to get the right paper.  Finally I found these old papers at the bottom of my paper rack.  The layout came together quickly (once I had the paper), then it was time for embellishments - this took another few days.  Due to the fact that the papers were so busy and I did not want to distract from the photos, I really battled to find something that worked for me.

I made some flags with washi tape, which I adhered with some staples and added some buttons and bling.  I also painted chipboard cogs black and added some Kaisercraft rubons.

The title I did with bits and pieces of left-over letters I had in my stash.  Lastly I added some stickers from an old October Afternoon range, some buttons and bling.

This layout was really a handful of FUN!!!!!!  Thank you for taking the time to visit!
